In this five week class you will begin by calculating and planning a draft in order to weave a woolen scarf. Once you have wound the warp, you will dye the warp in a color or colors of your choice. It is then off to the loom to put the warp on the loom and using the draft from the first week, weave the scarf. The fiber and dyes are included in the cost of this class.
Set up a tapestry loom, design a cartoon, make joins, and weave curved, angular and freeform designs. Bring a picture of a landscape for inspiration: mountains, seashore desert, etc. Or continue learning new techniques with the piece you have on the loom.
Learn to warp and weave on your rigid heddle loom using the direct warping (peg) method. While weaving, we will discuss various aspects of using color and texture in you weaving, how to weave various types of cloth, and how to complete your projects.
